Google Classroom

    GOOGLE CLASSROOMS

An online platform that enhances the learning experience in the physical classroom, Google classroom is indeed one of its kind. Google Classroom is part of the Google Apps for Education suite which strives to enable paperless learning in the classroom.

A free collaboration application for teachers and learners, Google classroom has revolutionized teaching and learning worldwide. Teachers are able to create online classrooms, ask students to attend the class, and create and give out assignments. Students and teachers can communicate about the assignments within the platform and teachers can monitor students’ progress. Schools are able to create a free Google Apps for Education account to utilize this solution.

During my technology of education course, I came to learn about Google classroom and decided to explore it further to seek its benefits. It is a known fact that Google Classroom provides extra features to teachers and students that are not part of standard Google accounts. For example, teachers can utilize the Forms tool to add images and create quizzes with multiple choice answers to questions.

The Inbox provided by Gmail tool hosts Classroom messages, enabling students and teachers to easily find highlights and key updates. Teachers are able to organize their class streams by adding subjects to posts and students and teachers can filter the streams to find specific subjects. Teachers are able to directly communicate and instruct students by using Google Hangouts.

Google Classroom is also highly beneficial for parents. Teachers are able to share summaries of student performance with their parents and the latter can get automated email summaries of class announcements and student work.

The advantages that students benefit from Google classroom include that the students are easily able to access the assignments and learning materials prepared by their educator.  Additionally, they can use the platform to communicate with the teacher and other students anytime. This interconnectivity with Google Drive and Docs enables students to submit completed assignments that include rich media and highly collaborated tasks. For example, students can create group projects and presentations from the comfort of their own homes, on any device, at any time anywhere on earth.

Similarly, there are many advantages that Google classrooms provide to teachers as well. It enables teachers to create online classes to complement the other classes they conduct. They are able to share learning materials with their students at their convenience from anywhere at any time and these can be viewed and downloaded conveniently. Additionally, educators can create online assignments and also track students’ progress and performance in the assignments.

Hence by exploring this tool I found out , that Google Classroom links educators with students, making it simple to create an online class and invite learners, enabling educators to distribute assignments, facilitate conversations between students and instructors, allowing educators to review and grade assignments, and enabling students to view class materials, documents, and assignments all in one place.
